Frequently Asked Questions

What is a clinical trial?

Clinical trials are research studies that explore which medical approaches work best for certain illnesses or groups of people and whether a medical strategy, treatment, or device is safe and effective for humans. Clinical trials produce the best data available for health care decision making.

How do I find out more about a study?

You can contact our site via phone (256) 801-9860, our "Contact" page, or our patient sign-up page. You will be put in contact with a study coordinator who will discuss your health conditions and potential study participation with you. If appropriate, you may decide to participate in a study. At your first visit, prior to any study activity, you will be given a form called an "Informed Consent Form" which will lay out the specifics of study participation, including visit schedules, testing, and compensation. You will be given the chance to take the form home and discuss it with our staff and physicians prior to signing.

Am I ever under any obligation to participate?

No. E Squared Research patients are volunteers. You may withdraw consent at any time for any reason, and have no obligation to participate in the future. There is no penalty of any kind for opting not to participate or withdrawing from a study once you begin.

Will I be compensated?

Participating patients are compensated for their time. During the screening process, you will be provided information on what is required of you and what you will be receiving.

What medical care will I receive?

Standard visit procedures often include labs, ECGs, vitals and physicals, and many studies may cover necessary procedures. While each trial is different, you will be fully informed of the study related activities prior to your participation.

Who will provide my care?

Every study is overseen by the primary investigator, a doctor to whom you will be assigned. Depending on the study, you may be assigned additional physician specialists to assist with your care. You participation will be guided by a Clinical Research Coordinator who will be your main point of contact during the study.

What can I expect?

Because E Squared Research is a dedicated research site, you can expect to be seen at your appointment time. Additionally, if you need to speak to your study team, you will have direct access during office hours and be provided a 24 hour emergency number for after hour events.

Will participation cost me anything?

All study related treatment is provided at no charge. This may include labs, physicals, clinical assessments, procedures, and the investigative trial medication or devices. We will never bill you or your insurance.
